Location: Located right on the borders of the two states of Gujarat and Maharashtra, this small union territory is surrounded on the west, north and east by Valsad district of Gujarat and in the south, and south east by Thane and Nashik districts of Maharashtra.

About Dadra & Nagar Haveli: After prolonged skirmishes between the Portuguese and Marathas, it was in the December of 1779 that the Marathas ceded Dadra and Nagar Haveli to the Portuguese. The Portuguese ruled this territory until it was liberated and merged with the mainland of India in 1961. But even before the Marathas and the Portuguese, this small land of 72 villages was ruled by many a dynasties and have left their impact on this union territory. Dadra & Nagar Haveli is love at first sight. The tall awesome trees, the rivers flowing past them, the green grass mingling with fields of darker green, and the distant hills dotting gently rolling hills, everything here is mesmerizing. Silva, in Portuguese means Woods which is evident in Silvassa, the tiny, sleepy capital township. Tall trees reaching for skies and the little cottages around them take you to some place else.
